Truck Driving | CDL

This certificate program covers rules and regulations of the Federal Motor Carrier Administration. The program includes: classroom education, behind the wheel training, additional classes for commercial trucking, and general education classes suited towards the trucking industry.

Truck drivers and tractor-trailer jobs are forecast to have a 13% increase in employment through 2018. Professional light truck drivers and those in sales are said to have the second highest increase in demand at 9% growth between 2008 and 2018. As economic growth occurs, there will be an increasing need for trucking services both state and nationwide.

Gainful Employment Disclosure Report

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Approved MnSCU Student Vehicle Use Agreement (complete and submit to: Rainy River Community College, Attn. T. Wood, 1501 Highway 71, International Falls, MN 56649)
  • DOT Controlled Substance Test (RRCC Drug Screen Release - This test to be completed at Essentia Health International Falls Clinic, 283-9431. When calling for an appointment, indicate you are an RRCC CDL student requesting the DOT 5-panel Controlled Substance Test using the Essentia Health Chain of Custody.)
  • DOT Physical (list of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Certified Medical Examiners in Intl. Falls area)
  • CDL Class A Permit (CDL Manual - Written; CDL Manual - Audio - scroll to bottom of page). The CDL Learners Permit Test can be taken any Tuesday, from 8:30-11:15 AM or 1:00-3:15 PM at Backus Community Center, 900 5th Street. Bring a valid drivers license as identification. Fee to be paid at the time of testing.NOTE: Travel to Hibbing for Behind the Wheel driving will be required.
